Wireless earbuds buying guide
Most people pick earbuds on price and brand, then discover fit and call quality matter more. A few minutes on the points below saves returns.
- Fit beats specs: try the included ear-tip sizes before judging sound, bass and noise isolation depend on the seal.
- Battery life is quoted for the buds alone; the case adds two to four extra charges, so check both numbers.
- If you take calls outdoors, look for multiple microphones with wind reduction, not just "noise cancelling" on the box.
- Active noise cancelling helps on trains and planes but adds cost; for quiet offices, good passive isolation is enough.
- Check the water-resistance rating (IPX4 or higher) if you train, and whether the case charges wirelessly or by cable only.
Common mistake: Buying the cheapest multipack: the cell in tiny earbuds wears out first, so a warranty of a year or more is worth paying for.
